For my freshman Scientific Illustration class.
We had to take our specimen out of the museum, and take it to the hospital to be X-rayed. Then Make an art piece using the X-Rayed image.
Easier said than done-- Because people riding the campus bus don't typically like to be next to the girl holding the jar with dead geckos sloshing around inside of it, and the nurses aren't very helpful when they don't want to even touch the JAR containing what they are supposed to X-Ray for me.
Anyways, When I got my X-Rays back and went to talk to the department specialist about them, he told me that the little white oval in the X-Ray was the unborn egg of the Gecko that I had been studying. I thought that was really sad that the gecko had died/ been killed when It was pregnant, so for my piece, I used brushes by my friend
to add little lines of "life" sprouting out from the egg, but kept them in the same color as the rest of the X-Ray. In our critique, my professor said that he would have liked it better if I had made the lines a more vibrant color so that they stood out more, but I honestly think that would look really stupid...lol
